The X2 was released the following year, and included an 8.1 MP camera with Wifi and GPS. It’s main feature was a high resolution display (~311 ppi pixel density) and it was made to fill the increasing gap of smartphones as competitors such as HTC and APPLE were producing high-end smartphones such as the iPhone and HTC One. The Xperia X1 was released in 2008 and was the first phone to be released in the Xperia range. Sony Mobile re-branded Sony Ericsson in 2012. Xperia is derived from the word “experience”, and was initially used in the Xperia X1 slogan, “I Xperia the best”.
